Stärkung von Kinderrechten durch den Digital Services Act

Stärkung von Kinderrechten durch den Digital Services Act

Ingrid Stapf, Stephan Dreyer, Laura Schelenz, Sünje Andresen, and Jessica Heesen have analyzed how the Digital Services Act (DSA) can strengthen children's rights in the digital realm. In a paper, they constructively accompany the implementation of the new European legal standard DSA from a children's rights perspective.

The focus is on provider measures as well as prevention and empowerment concerns. Using points-to-consider, the authors elaborate on what constitutes good and best practice approaches to children's rights in meeting the requirements of the DSA. Student research assistant Sonja Pfisterer contributed to the paper.

About the Project
The paper originated from the BMBF-funded project "Security for Children in the Digital World" (SIKID), which addresses current issues of civil security for children in digital worlds. The focus is on growing security threats due to interaction risks. The goal is to improve media regulation and to network the central actors in order to strengthen children and their rights online.

SIKID is a joint project of the University of Tübingen, the Technical University of Berlin and the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut in cooperation with the Federal Agency for Child and Youth Protection in the Media, the Leuphana University of Lüneburg and the JFF – Institute for Media Research and Media Education (JFF).
