BredowCast #29: Algorithmisierte Öffentlichkeiten [Algorithmed Public Spheres]

What role do algorithms play for the constitution of the public spheres? Dr. Cornelius Puschmann and Atilla-Filipe Cevik address this question in the postdoctoral research network “Algorithmed Public Spheres” and in this BredowCast.

The postdoctoral research network “Algorithmed Public Spheres“ promotes junior researchers who focus on digital topics. Thereby, the “Postdoc-Kolleg” focuses at the relevance of algorithms for the constitution of the public sphere.
Young academics at postdoctoral level work together on current issues and research topics at home and abroad. In addition to the research programmes of the Hans-Bredow-Institut, the “Postdoc-Kolleg” will give new and innovative impulses for further programmes.

In this BredowCast, our guests will give you an insight into the relevance and effects of algorithms, the existence and problematics of filter bubbles and the difference of diversity and fragmentation by using practical examples. Dr. Cornelius Puschmann and Atilla-Filipe Cevik will also explain how they approach these topics scientifically by using examples from their research.
