Mai 2023

Und auch noch kurz die Welt retten?

The 13th Hamburg Media Symposium will take place at the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, 30 May 2023, starting at 1.30 pm. It aims to shed light on the social significance of social media content creators and present the latest research findings. Experts will discuss how to raise awareness of the responsibility of influencers for social understanding in the face of often unclear roles and structures.

Please register here.

The event will be recorded by TIDE - Hamburg's citizen broadcaster and education channel - and will be available on Tide's YouTube channel.

Influencers on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok & Co. can do more than provide celebrity news and beauty tips. They fulfil a wide variety of functions and contribute to the formation of opinion. Half of the social media users in Germany follow influencers, and among 16 to 29-year-olds, as many as 81 percent subscribe to posts, videos and stories posted by social media stars.

Who are these actors? In what legal and economic environment do they operate, how do they see themselves and what role do they play in social understanding? What significance do they have in processes of disinformation and how do so-called sensefluencers engage themselves for positive purposes?

The 13th Hamburg Media Symposium is organised by the Leibniz Institute for Media Research | Hans-Bredow-Institut (HBI), the Hamburg section of the Research Institute Social Cohesion (RISC), the Media Authority Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein (MA HSH) and the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

We look forward to welcoming you on 30 May 2023.
