RIPE@2021 - Public Service Media’s Contribution to Society

The conference "RIPE@2021 - Public Service Media's Contribution to Society", organised by the University of Fribourg (Switzerland), will take place on 27 and 28 September. Participants from the HBI will be Prof. Dr. Uwe Hasebrink and Prof. Dr. Barbara Thomaß.
On 28 September at 11:10 a.m. CEST, Prof. Dr. Uwe Hasebrink will give a presentation on "Media Use and Social Integration: An Explorative Study on Public Service Media's Contribution to Societal Cohesion".
On the same day at 10.10 a.m. CEST, Prof. Dr. Barbara Thomaß will talk about "What (Digital) Media Deliver to Democracy: The Media for Democracy Monitor 2020 (MDM) and the Public Service Media".

About the Conference

The conference will bring together scholars and public service media professionals from all over the world to critically discuss the concept of “contribution to society”. Working groups will focus on communication needs of changing societies, new forms of contribution and distinctiveness, involving citizens and building communities, as well as governance, communication and legitimacy management.
