Politik des Zusammenhalts. Über Demokratie und Bürokratie

Jan-Hinrik Schmidt and the authors of the book "Politik und Zusammenhalt [Politics and Cohesion]" (Jens Kersten, Claudia Neu and Berthold Vogel) discuss cohesion as a socio-political category.

Cohesion is the socio-political topic of the hour. Whether we talk about Europe or the situation in the village, whether digital work is the topic or migration, whether the common good is discussed or the fate of the precariously employed - it is always a question of the resilience of the binding forces of the social. The threatening dissolution of society into its individual interests is missing as a gloomy scenario in hardly any political speech. The discussion evening takes up this perspective.

The three authors of the book Politics of Cohesion argue for an efficient administration and bureaucracy. It is not the high moral tone but the practice of infrastructure that makes cohesion possible. Jan-Hinrik Schmidt from the Bredow Institute takes a critical look at the new socio-political interest in cohesion from the perspective of media research.
