At the ORF Dialogue Forum starting at 7 p.m. in Studio 3 of the Radiokulturhaus,
PD Dr. Matthias C. Kettemann and other experts will examine the question of whether there is a "good algorithm" and what the effects of an "algorithm-driven" media world will be. The admission is free, but
registration is kindly requested.
Nobody knows it, but everyone fears it. Many people are afraid that it will steer and manipulate us unnoticed. We are talking about the algorithm, the control code, which in digital communication technologies decides how messages are ranked and who receives what information.
What are the political, social and ethical consequences of an "algorithm-driven" media world? Do we have to be afraid of the applications of artificial intelligence in the media, or are there socially acceptable solutions for dealing with it? Is there a good algorithm?
