Algorithms make decisions for you in many different areas of everyday life. Through the Internet of Things (IoT) algorithmic influences also reached our lives apart from smartphone and computer. Algorithms play a central role in different areas of life. However, in the development of software, human rights have played a subordinate role so far, which is a problem for public opinion, political decision-making and activities in online communication areas, and is urgently needed to be discussed.
The workshop “Algorithmic Decision Making and Its Human Rights Implications” is designed to explore shifts, tensions and new perspectives and provide a platform for exchange. The status and protection of human rights are also highlighted in quite different digital processes. Last but not least, joint research foci are to be identified and an exchange to different methods of exploring the subject is to be promoted.
