Sexy Media? Gender - Mediality - Culturality

A lecture series of the University of Hamburg in the Winter Semester 2008/09 with the support of the Hans-Bredow-Institute, starting on Monday, 27.10.08, 6.00 - 8.00 pm.

How do media and gender interact in societies shaped by the mass media? What happens at the junctures of gender / sex(uality) and media? What political effects can result from such connections? Gender / Queer Studies, as disciplines now anchored in institutions, do not need to be looked at for their legitimacy any more but for where they productively intersect. What do people involved in these disciplines have to say on this subject?

This interdisciplinary lecture series presents challenging topics from these areas and the scholars working in them.

Venue: Hörsaal M at the University of Hamburg, Main Building, Edmund-Siemers-Allee 1, 20146 Hamburg.
