Linked-up with the World. Children and Adolescents in Virtual Environments
German symposium at the Französischer Dom in Berlin on 9 and 10 October 2008. Programme
A symposium held in German, hosted in close cooperation by Evangelische Kirche Deutschland (EKD), Erfurter Netcodes, DGPuK-Fachgruppe Medienpädagogik and the Hans Bredow Institute at the Französischer Dom in Berlin on 9 and 10 October 2008.
Background
The usage of online-offerings by children and teenagers moved into the center of discussion and attention, not least triggered by the progression of the social web. This situation was the cause to organise a two-day symposium all around online-media and the specific challenges with regard to adolescents.
How significant is the usage of the Internet in everyday life of children and adolescents? Which chances and limits emerge from the new technologies? What are the options for adolescents to cope with this trend? Empirical results, concepts for a safe virtual environment and possible guidances were discussed.
The Erfurter-Netcodes-Siegel is an award for high-quality websites for children. This award was forwarded in the context of the symposium.
The symposium was held in German and was open for everybody interested in the matter.
