Research Centre for the History of Broadcasting in Northern Germany
The Research Centre for the History of Broadcasting in Northern Germany is a cooperative project of the Hans-Bredow-Institute with the University of Hamburg (Department of Languages, Literature and Media I) and NDR (the Northern German Broadcasting Service). The Research Centre is also supported by WDR (the Western German Broadcasting Service).
The objective of the Research Centre is to grasp transformational processes in the history of broadcasting scientifically. By advancing close cooperation between the providers, media-historical researchers and practitioners, the Research Centre establishes a comprehensive approach. Through collaboration with the University of Hamburg and other research facilities, media-historical research and teaching are promoted and strengthened.
The main project of the Research Centre, the History of Broadcasting in Northern Germany 1945-1955, was completed in 2007. As the work as well as the organisational form of the Reserach Centre is trusted by all cooperating partners, financing was extended until 2012.
